After a root canal, you can tell a patient verbally, write it down and have them sign a form in three places, but they still forget to return for the final restoration. I see this several times a month and have to refer them back to their dentist to complete treatment.
Try to make it routine to immediately restore endodontic cases. It's easy and efficient if the patient still has the rubber dam on. However, if there isn't enough time or you have to plan a second visit for final restoration, place an easy-to-see composite, like PermaFlo Purple. The purple color makes location of the pulp floor simple. Creating that immediate coronal seal will ensure greater success for your patients and lets you avoid those uncomfortable conversations on who’s at fault for the failure.
