Berman Dental Instruments Rubber Dam Forceps

February 12, 2019

Have you ever wondered why the same exact products, drugs or instruments have wide disparities in cost? This is true for dentistry and medicine as well as consumer products. Simply stamp a different name or label on the product and immediately the price spikes.

I’m all for paying top dollar for high-quality instruments, but to pay an upcharge for the identical product with no appreciable difference is insanity. That’s what we do every time we buy dental instruments. Berman Instruments is a peer owned company that is taking the insanity out of dental instrument purchasing.

Several months ago, I set up a new office and decided to stock every item in my treatment kit from Berman Instruments. As an endodontist, rubber dam forceps have become a staple in my office. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out the difference between the forceps I purchased from Berman Instruments and the forceps I already had from a different manufacturer, purchased at multiples of Berman's price. It doesn’t rust or pit, and the spring mechanism remains taut and sturdy with extensive use.

Is this the exact same instrument with the only difference being the name stamped on the product? I don’t know, but the value here is pretty clear. This instrument, like most others sold by Berman Instruments, is extremely high-end and compares identically to forceps from any other company—at a fraction of the price.

Berman Instruments claims approximately 50% cost savings. It actually worked out to be 60% savings for the rubber dam forceps. Stop the insanity and check out Berman Instruments before buying from anywhere else.
