Proxi-Chek

One of the most frustrating things about delivering indirect restorations is properly adjusting proximal contacts. Dentists often have fears of adjusting the wrong spot, so we keep trying in the restorations and making very small adjustments—leading to an increased delivery time.

We can use proximal disclosing agents or articulating paper to help highlight spots, but these agents can be messy or difficult to position correctly. Microcopy has introduced a simple yet elegant solution to this issue known as Proxi-Chek. With this solution, a small piece of articulating film essentially adheres onto a handle that can be easily slipped between the restoration and the adjacent tooth. The practitioner can clearly and easily mark the area of concern and adjust as needed.

The tip of the handle is bendable so you can access all areas of the mouth without feeling as though you need to contort yourself for proper placement. In addition, the film itself marks all types of restorations including new age ceramics and metal crowns.

At less than 60 cents per patient, Proxi-Chek is economical while allowing for more efficient, predictable restoration adjustments. The product is also disposable, so you do not need to worry about sterilization issues. Sometimes little things like this can make the biggest difference in our practices.
