The Bale Doneen Method

March 7, 2019

The media is buzzing with news stories about how mouth health is connected to overall body health.  Recently, the media caught on to the links between periodontal disease, heart attack, stroke, Alzheimer's disease and some forms of cancer. This new wave has brought life into dental practices focused on whole body health.

I have been on the wellness path for more than 15 years, looking for ways to keep my patients healthier. I want to pass on the knowledge I have gained to my patients so they can take what they learn back to their physicians. I want them to be advocates for themselves.

A great place for dentists to start learning how cardiovascular disease may impact their lives and their patients is by reading the book, Beat the Heart Attack Gene: The Revolutionary Plan to Prevent Heart Disease, Stroke, and Diabetes by Dr. Brad Bale and Amy Doneen. This book is written for the lay person to gain knowledge about strokes and heart attacks. Dr. Bale developed a protocol to reverse inflammation and arterial plaques that can contribute to future events. He has successfully treated and reversed this killer disease for almost 20 years. His WHY in life is to train health care professionals to recognize problems and incorporate protocols so they can do the same.

As dentists, we are on the forefront of treating periodontal disease and looking for endodontic lesions that may contribute to inflammation. After attending his two-day preceptorship, I left feeling excited and happy to develop protocols to support periodontal health, including recommending cone beam technology and discussing risk factors and treatments with patients.

I would like to see all dentists read this book, attend a preceptorship and gain more knowledge for their own health as well as their patients’ health.
