Running a dental practice is becoming more difficult as artificial intelligence and digital services become mainstream. Our teams have more daily duties to complete and must connect with patients while they are in the practice, before they arrive and after they leave. All these high-touch services require a well-trained team. The challenge is, the available pool of dental team members appears to be shrinking, as it has become increasingly more difficult to hire and train the best dental employees.
With this shortage of candidates, we started looking for solutions to help my team members take excellent care of the patients we see each day. We found an amazing solution called Support DDS.
Support DDS is an outsourcing company founded in Texas by a group of former dental equipment sales guys. They founded the company while working on socially responsible businesses that are mission based. The company functions out of Africa where the population is college educated, speaks English and works the same hours as our practice. After a few online interviews, we hired a nice young woman who is now part of our team. We spent a few hours each morning teaching her our systems for insurance verification of benefits, following up on claims and email communications with patients. This helped us eliminate the insurance coordinator position in our office. We exchanged a full time employee with an outsourced dental administrator. You can use them for anything your team can train them to do!
Originally, this was meant to be a temporary solution until we found someone to hire. We are no longer looking for a new team member! This is our permanent solution and we are in the process of hiring another administrator to assist with marketing, newsletters, social media and patient follow-up.
I am so glad I am part of a mission that helps those in need but that also helps my team with daily tasks.
