Our needs for retraction with crown and bridge have changed. There are several ways to get a nice impression, and knowing this will help reduce procedure times, make your seats more predictable and keep practice overhead in alignment.
Packing cord has been a standard for years. We have patients who continue to hemorrhage no matter what we try. Take 1 Retraction Paste from KaVo Kerr is a prefilled unit-dose capsule delivery system used in all of our composite delivery syringes. This can be placed on top of the cord to help reduce bleeding. When used in combination with cord, a less viscous paste is needed.
A lot of practices have adopted lasers instead of cord. This is a nice way to trim tissue to expose margins, but bleeding is still a concern. Use the Take 1 heavy viscosity paste without cord to control bleeding. Lasers also can be difficult when digital scanning is needed to pick up margins. This is where the use of Take 1 high viscosity really performs. It forces the tissue out of the way, which allows for a beautiful scanned image.
If you are a cord packing practice, a laser practice or a supragingival prepping practice, you must have a reliable way to stop bleeding, retract the tissue and control cross contamination. The two different viscosities offered by this KaVo Kerrproduct are ideal for today’s restorative procedures.
