Splashtop Business Access Pro

If you have ever attended one of my lectures or watched one of my webinars, you know that I am very focused on sharing images with patients. I truly believe taking the time to educate patients by showing and telling builds a better relationship. One way to do this is by installing large monitors in the operatory and using them as presentation screens. A concern with this modality is that it takes away from the personal connection with the patient and may even impart fear. It also requires hardwiring and is an expense that many offices may not be able to undertake.

An alternate solution is to subscribe to Splashtop Business Access Pro for about $100 per year.  After downloading the Splashtop Business App to your tablet computer (iPad or Android), you can literally mirror any screen that has the parent program installed.  The beauty of this approach is it allows me to sit side-by-side with my patients and go over their intraoral images, radiographs, CBCT, periodontal probing, etc. all directly on my iPad. It replicates the screen of my office computer housing the imaging software.  Being that patients use mobile technologies like this all the time, I’ve found it to be less intimidating. This solution offers a very nice mobile alternative that allows us to take the tablet around the office and has also been helpful when discussing treatment with a loved one without having to bring them into the operatory of their child or elder parent.  Furthermore, Splashtop was actually intended for remote access of computers so you can use it to log in to your office computers from home or even replicate the screen of your intraoral scanner if you use a wireless device like 3Shape Trios.  Sometimes the best solutions for a dental office come from outside dentistry and thankfully they tend to come at a lower investment.
